Feed into the Energy With Football Math
Are you ready for the big game? This past year the New England Patriots and the Atlanta Falcons took the field for the final game of the season. This year will be a crazy one for us. In my family we are die hard Patriot fans, but we live in Atlanta. Either way a win brings joy to my family or my city. My house will be quiet and a little sad once football season is complete. If your students are like mine, I know they will want to join in the fun.
Here are a few ideas to help you with the Super Bowl excitement in math.
- Measurement Football Math – Take the math lesson outside and have the students measure how far they can throw a football. If you have older kids working on division and averages, let them throw it 3-5 times and find their average distance.
- Big Game Quiz Bowl – Take test questions from past tests to review for your upcoming standardized testing. You can do this as a game lesson or make it a bulletin board where students can answer questions throughout the school day (as morning work, early finisher work, or during math center time).
- Big Game Math Word Problems – Use this FREE Download as morning work or in a math center to review standards. You can also put out additional notecards for students to write their own Football Math Word Problems.
