1 Big Salad: A Delicious Counting Book by Juana Medina

In this book photos of vegetables are turned into animals.  Readers count the number of items added to the salad.  This would pair great with From the Garden: A Counting Book About Growing Food by Michael Dahl.  You could extend this by having readers build their own salads with a specific number of items.

1 Zany Zoo by Lori Degman

This counting book is super funny.  It follows an AABB rhyming pattern.  Readers follow the adventures of these zany zoo animals.  This is one with more words and would be less of a book for independent readers.

From One to One Hundred by Teri Sloat

Each page of this counting book has a number and a key of images to find. Whatever number is written on the page is the number of that image that readers will find.  The book covers 1-10, but it also builds up to 100.  This is a fun one that readers can read on their own.
