The Shape of Thunder
I couldn’t put this one down. So many important topics and I wanted to know how it all fit together The desperation of Quinn and Cora to go back in time to fix things embodied me and I was pulled in. So relevant, too real, and spot on for the age! A great one to pair with When You Reach Me, by Rebecca Stead.

This book was beautiful! Red has bounced around from foster home to foster home. She just has a short time until she can be reunited with her mother. A final foster home is the only thing in the way. This novel is a mix of heartbreak and joy. The parts with Tuck the tortoise felt so real. I was transported into that barn. Red is a character you want to fight for, to love, and to be friends with. One of my favorites for the year!
I loved this book. A new girl has come to the island and everyone is excited. But, how does she fit with the past? And, why can’t Clara remember what happened last summer? Will the pieces fall in place? A fabulous #ownvoices about a young girl in Jamaica. The connections to being just a kid and navigating friendships resonates with all of us. But it is the mystery that makes this book a page turner.
