Candles – But a new take on candles. Not the one you buy at the drug store, but ones that are interesting and new. I love these candles from Backyard Bee. The owner is a teacher and she, her husband, and her dad raise the bees that make the wax for these fabulous candles. Check out the candles on Etsy or Instagram.
Cool t-shirts – My favorite t-shirt is one I got from the Blue Envelope. Loved it so much I had to get one for my school director and coteacher. Super comfy and the kids love asking about the words that make the letter P. The Blue Envelope has a shirt for any teacher on your list.
Books – Yep we are those book people. We read we love discovering new books to share with our students. The best gift I ever got was from a past student who came back to deliver me a copy of Black Beauty. I have a small horse obsession and it was one of the most thoughtful gifts I ever received. A book your child picks out or gift card to a local bookstore (or Barnes and Noble or Amazon) are great ways to keep teachers reading. AND many teachers participate in monthly book clubs, so it is always nice to have that month taken care of.
Holiday/Home Decor and Ornaments – Every Christmas I revisit ghost of the classrooms past as I unpack my boxes to decorate my house. These goodies are ones that remind me of the joys and challenges of my career.
Coffee (or their favorite drink) – Just walk into a classroom just before school starts and you will learn the fuel that gets your child’s teacher flowing. I would never turn down a Dunkin’ Donuts or Leopard Forest Dark Roast with cream (that is my fuel). A gift card or 12-pack of a favorite soda will always put a smile on a teacher’s face. And a one-of-a-kind coffee mug from DRG Ceramics is always a plus.
School Supplies – A bouquet of sharpened pencils! The smell the perfect tips on those pencils…well…it makes me want to grade, plan, or write. You can never go wrong with the suggestions below.
Planners – We are obsessed with planning. Here are a few of my favorites
- Erin Condren You can make these beauties personal by adding the name of your favorite teacher to the cover. Erin Condren has fabulous Teacher Lesson Planners, as well as, life planners that will help keep her organized.
- Happy Planner – This planner is just as fabulous as the Erin Condren planners, but you can personalize the planner. The great thing about this one is you can pick it up at your local Michael’s store making it a great last minute or I totally forgot
Gift Cards – You can never go wrong with a gift card. Being able to shop for a new top, download a new book, or have your daily coffee paid is always a treat. The gift cards below are always a hit.
Homemade Treats – Teachers get overloaded with cookies and sweets, but we LOVE the things your kids (and you) make for us. Here is a collection of some of my very favorite homemade gifts.
